INGREDIENTS
2 sticks Butter (softened)
13⁄4 cups Sugar
4 Eggs (beaten)
1⁄2 teaspoon Vanilla
11⁄2 cups Flour
1⁄2 teaspoon Baking powder
7 tablespoons Cocoa (unsweetened)
1⁄2 cup Pecans (chopped)
1⁄2 teaspoon Salt
Powered Sugar (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS
Cream the softened butter with the sugar and beaten eggs.
Add vanilla and salt. Add flour, baking powder, and cocoa.
Add the nuts before you mix it all up, so the nuts dredge in the flour and cocoa.
Grease a square baking pan and flour it.
Spread batter into the pan and bake at 350° F for about 45 to 50 minutes. It’ll rise up real nice and crack open on the top. That’s OK!
Once the brownies are cooled, you can dust them with Powered Sugar or Cocoa. (Since I'm Southern I like using Powered Sugar.)
Notes
If you stick a toothpick in and it doesn’t quite come out clean, that’s OK, too! I like them a little moist. And if, when it cools, it falls a bit, that’s OK, too. That just means they’re rich and moist. You’ll love ‘em!
