TX Bourbon Pecan Pie

Recipe type: Dessert
Cuisine: Southern
Serves: 6
PREP TIME
15 mins
TOTAL TIME
1 hour
INGREDIENTS
2 cups pecan halves (for topping)
1⁄3 cup crushed pecans (for pastry bottom)
1⁄2 cup granulated sugar
1⁄2 cup dark brown sugar
3 tablespoons butter, melted
3 eggs, beaten
1⁄2 cup light corn syrup
1⁄4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 & 1/2 tablespoons TX Bourbon
1 (9-inch) deep-dish pie shell
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Preheat your oven to 350°. Next, pour yourself a shot of that TX
Bourbon. Drink it all down. Now, you’re in the mood to bake this pie.
2. Spread the pecan halves evenly, right-side up, onto a baking sheet
lined with parchment paper. Place them in your preheated oven for
4-5 minutes until they become aromatic. DO NOT overcook as they
will scorch! Remove from the oven and cool.
3. Mix the sugar, dark brown sugar and melted butter together in a
bowl.
4. Stir in the beaten eggs, corn syrup, salt, vanilla, and bourbon. Pour
yourself another shot while you’re at it.
5. Place your unbaked deep-dish pie shell on a baking sheet. Get a fork
and prick the bottom and sides of the pie shell to prevent any crust
bubbles. Then, re-flute the edges of the pie crust to make it look
more homemade. (Or you can use your own homemade pie crust,
place it in a pie pan, and prick the bottom and sides.)
6. Place the crushed pecans in your pie shell and pour your filling over
them. Take your pecan halves and arrange them neatly over the top
of the filling. (You should be feeling very creative by now.)
7. Bake your pie for 30 minutes. After that, turn the pie so it will bake
evenly on all sides.
8. Bake for another 15 minutes. You’ll know it’s done when it barely
jiggles in the middle and the pie crust is nicely browned.
9. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
10. Now, pour yourself another shot of TX Bourbon as a reward for
makin’ the tastiest Texas Bourbon Pecan Pie in town!
