INGREDIENTS
12 smoked sausages (breakfast sausages or hot-dogs will also work)
2 sheets of puff pastry (ready-rolled in your frozen pastry aisle)
1 egg (whisked-for brushing pastry)
Edible eyes (found all over the internet-take your pick)
2 teaspoons honey (or a tiny dab of cream cheese or peanut butter under each eyeball)
INSTRUCTIONS
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, and preheat your oven for 400ᵒ.
Roll out a sheet of the puff pastry. Then, slice the pastry into long thin strips, a little less than ½- inch width.
Now, wrap each sausage from the bottom-up around each sausage, leaving a space around the face for your little mummy edible eyes, and place on the parchment lined cooking pan. Continue this procedure until all the sausages are wrapped and on the cooking sheet.
Brush all the little mummies with the egg wash and place in your 400ᵒ preheated oven for 20-25 minutes. Keep an eye on them as everyone’s oven cooks differently. Once they are a nice golden brown, remove from the oven and let them cool for about 4-5 minutes.
Brush a little honey (or the cream cheese or peanut butter) on the underside of the eyeballs and attach into the open area of the head. Serve with little bowls of mustard and ketchup. They’re boo-tiful!
